My Toshiba laptop wouldn't boot because of a hard drive problem. I tries a system restore, but no luck. I've now removed the drive because it had around 2000 of our childrens pictures on it. I've opened it on my desktop, and found them under a folder called Toshiba HDD Recovery. When I open the folder, I find they have somehow been converted to ".swm" files, which I can't open. I've surfed around, but I can't find any program that can guarantee to open them. Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'd be devasted to lose our kids photos.

A partially downloaded file, like .CRDownload, .Partial, and .Part files, are created by web browsers for the purpose of storing the content of partially downloaded file. The download process for this file can be in progress or it can become interrupted. Ultra File Opener (UFO) can examine the contents of a partially downloaded file and, if available, it can extract the original download URL. With UFO, you can copy original download URLs, restart downloads, and learn how to resume downloads.

Is the HDD is fully crashed! or just bad sectors r there.... U can try a good data recovery software to extract data from there. Though not sure, u can use Recovery Manager backup file option, it stores the .swm files to where u point it to save to.
