Switching motherboards on Dell machines

Evening Everyone, I have two old Dell machines including one large Optiplex GX620 tower and one Optiplex 780 (Small Form Factor tower). I was wondering if I could install my newer smaller motherboard from my Optiplex 780 in the older GX620 case, as that may provide more room and, potentially, more options for expansion? i.e. Two hard drives, etc. Maybe a stupid question but IT is clearly not my forte. Thanks, Neil

Computer case/hardware configuration/speed etc. are factors for that. While you did not reveal full configurations of the both, so it is difficult to say anything positive. As your IT persons are not supportive for this matter and hope that they checked the both in every possible way. It is better to ask Dell service center for more help. They are in the good position to help you.
