When you are in the design mode, hit F1 to get help. This will explain all of your options.
To add a field, just enter +xxxxx
Where + is located at the begining of where you want the field to display
xxxx = Number of xxxxx is the length of the field
replace xxxx with IIII for input field, BBBB for Input/output, OOOOO for Ouput field (ALPHA) use 3, 6, 9 for Numeric fields

SDA Design mode can be very handy, however, I would strongly recommend learning to use PDM and directly entering source code into a display file DDS source … it puts you much more in control
of what you are doing …
This is not a direct answer to your question, just a general direction to follow for the future …
many IT departments do not allow designing with SDA because of the difficulty of preserving and documenting changes …
I’m not so sure about this. I have been using SDA for close to 20 years in a variety of shops and have never heard once that I was not supposed to use it. Any changes, other than cosmetic, in the DDS need to be accommodated in the HLL code and that is where the documentation would be.

Personally, I create all new screens via SDA, but normally use SEU to modify, primarily to keep the statement change date from corrupted. One should be able to maintain screens via SEU to better help you understand what you are doing. Of course, I do my html editing in notepad.
