I wanted to emphasize for the OP (and similar others) that this is a site for “…pros to ask questions, get answers, collaborate and exchange knowledge with their peers.” It’s not a site to get us to look things up for them. The technical manuals ought always to be the first place to look for technical details.
Throwing questions out to the internet hoping that some generally anonymous person will give the correct answer is not the way to be a “pro”.

This was a serious response. I knew the term was typically a Java/C term but I was wrong in assuming that it didn’t apply to RPGLE. And when Java/C are called from RPGLE we’ve got to expect to hear those terms. So I really was straightened out.
