Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 9.00.3239.00
We are experiencing problems with memory and other performance related issues. This is a scaled out deployment with ssrs installed on 2 server web farm (used to be 3) with windows 2003 sp2, 32GB RAM. Customers run 100s of subscriptions (some quite long running) and we are running into issues with memory and the server hangs up or services crash and restart

Did you have a specific question about SSRS or about the config? It could be as simple as there are to many very large reports which take a lot of RAM each being run at the same time.
Projects do run 1000s of scheduled reports and they do run many times at or about the same times do to contracted delivery times with clients. We just turned on verbose logging to attempt to get more information. I noticed now that the report server service_main log file is HUGE and reporting percentage of memory consumed every second – I dont think we want THAT much information! Info isnt enough but I will have to turn off Verbose if there isnt a way to make this one log file not report one line per second for the memory.
When you tell Reporting Services that you want Verbose logging it means it.
If your reporting services machines are running out of memory and it’s logging memory usage, all the info that you need to fix the problem is in the log, you just need to find it.
