SSH shell error message

When trying to execute ssh within QP2TERM, I get the message You don't exist, go away?" Any idea what needs to be setup

I found that if the AS400 user name is greater than 8 char. then that error message will appear.

    ssh may use the getuid() API to retrieve the UID of the real user running the process. The UID is then input to the getpwuid() API to get info about the real user, for example the /home directory of the real user. If either getuid() or getpwuid() doesn't work for the real user, then ssh can't work. Do you have a /home directory? Are you running under a changed current-user? I've seen a comment where someone had trouble while running as a user profile that had a name longer than 8 characters. You might check your UID to see how it fits with others on your system. Few AS/400 sites have paid attention to UIDs (and GIDs). As Unix-like utilities come into use, some Unix-like work might need to be done. Testing both APIs for your current-user should return errno that could point to corrective action. Tom
