Squid

Open source, Linux, Squid

Hello all,

I presently run squid v 2.5 on my server. The challeng I have is that my client systems behind the squid cannot do a ping. it always come with the error ''request time out'' despite that no firewall or shorewall is activated. Please help, what do I need to do so that my client systems can ping successfully.

Squid has nothing to do with 'ping,' which is a layer 2 thing (ICMP). Why are you running squid? I am assuming that there is some reason that the systems that access the web through your squid server cannot access it directly. Are your 'squid client systems' on the same subnet as the squid server? Can you ping things fine from the server that squid is running on?
