As near as I can tell, TOSTMF is unrelated to SQL. Where are you seeing it?
Perhaps this is iexcel — as Charlie Brown said this parameter represents the path including file name on the i-series IFS.
MY guess is you may have a home grown SQL command that converts the output to the IFS
My first guesses would be either CPYTOSTMF or CPYTOIMPF. However, a ‘home grown’ or 3rd-party SQL-based function is reasonable. Perhaps a downloaded utility like SQL2STMF.
CharlieBrowne’s answer was on the mark, so no need to modify it. But there might be oddities that discussion could uncover. I’ve seen a couple issues in recent years.
Someone who wouldn’t know the meaning of “TOSTMF” might not know “IFS” either. But discussion with OPs seems kind of rare here.
Thanks everyone. What I didn’t know was I was using an EXECUTE command that is part of ESend Software. TOSTMF is Copy to Stream File and is part of the Execute command.
This is my CL that is working now:
EXECUTE SQL(‘SELECT * from gbennett/ivpc1639 ‘) +
MSG(*NO) TEXT(‘GBTEST ‘)
