I'd like to capture failed SQL server logins (all windows accounts based) and auto generate an e-mail to the user. I can't see that these are actually written to any system tables but I do have them in the error log. Any ideas?

Create a new alert for error level 16 (Misc user) with response set to email. You will have to look up examples.
