can u get me the command to recover the database . my backup is in d:nor.bak . as i m running the command   >restore database 'd:nor.bak' it gives me the message as : Incorrect syntax near 'd:nor.bak'. pls let me know how to reatore . Regards, Rino

The command should look something like this.

<pre>RESTORE DATABASE YourDatabaseName FROM DISK=’D:\nor.bak’</pre>

The command gets more complex if you don’t have the files and folders laid out the same.

    Hello sir, Thnax for your answer.i tried the command as you had suggested. >restore database northwind from disk='d:nor.bak' This shows the error As: Msg 3159, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The tail of the log for the database "northwind" has not been backed up. Use BACKUP LOG WITH NORECOVERY to backup the log if it contains work you do not want to lose. Use the WITH REPLACE or WITH STOPAT clause of the RESTORE statement to just overwrite the contents of the log. Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. pls suggest for the better and explain the error msg TRAIL LOG,NO RECOVERY, WITH REPLACE .what the purpose of all this.
