I am not a SQL guy. What follows may or may not apply. This is just my fuzzy recollection of how I, with some help, was able to get SQL Server 2005 running under a 64 bit version of Windows Server 2008.
I had a problem where SQL Server 2005 was not properly installing. As I recall, I had to register the 32bit <a href="http://ASP.NET" title="http://ASP. " target="_blank">ASP.NET</a> (or similar) manually to get everything to work. This was a 32bit version. I do not know if there is a 64bit version of SQL 2005, and, if there is, then this may not apply.
Also, as I see you already have, SQL 2005 requires SP2 to work under 2008.
