 SQL Server 2005 Memory
I have a server with 8 dual core processors, 32GB of RAM, windows server 2003 32bit, sql server 2005 enterprise, and a 500GB database running on it.

1. How does sql server use memory in this case?

2. I have heard from sql server pro's that sql server can only use 4GB of RAM is that true?

Answer Wiki:
If you don't have AWE then SQL Server can only use 2 Gigs of memory. With AWE the SQL Server can use the rest of the memory for the buffer cache. The private memory and procedure cache will stay within the first 2 Gigs.
