If I have 500 clients in an environment, does that mean I need 20 servers with SQL 2005 Enterprise--each with only 25 client availability?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You can all 500 clients connecting to a single SQL Server. After you purcahse the server license, with 25 CALs included you can purchase an additional 475 CALs.

Before you spend any money, read this article:

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/sqlserverlicensing.mspx

You may well find a cheaper option.
