SQL 2000 to Yukon Migration

Exchange Server ActiveSync, SQL Server 2000, HTTP

Posted on behalf of Kilaru: We have 4-5 applications on the front end of a portal. On the backend we have mapped these applications to SQL server 2000 Databases. Now, we are planning to migrate on the backend databases to Yukon and map it to the application on the front end.

My question: Is it possible to use Yukon for one of the applications while other applications continue using SQL 2000. If so, can you please tell me the procedure for the same.

Yes it is. When you do this be sure to not upgrade the existing SQL Server 2000 instance. You will want to install SQL Server 2005 as a named instance then migrate only the databases you want to, into the names instance.
