I have a deaktop computer with Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, we have installed the speakers installed and are not working. Recently we have formatted our computer and sound is coming from speakers. Device manager shows all the sound, video and game controllers installed in it.

Check the device settings for the audio and make sure the type of speakers you have installed are selected.

It could be a problem with the sound driver. Make sure you have installed the latest drivers available for your sound card.

Also, two other things. Make sure that the speakers are plugged into the proper port on the sound card or front of the PC, and the second one that I have found is that even though the proper drives are installed in Windows so they display, I have found that the sound card was disabled in the BIOS settings.  Windows does not always show this that it is disabled in the BIOS and so you think everything is good.
