Assuming that partition 0 is / (root). Before doing this please take necessary backups for ur system and data. Now do as: format (select the disk / partition in which adding new one ) and type: p Now select the slice no where to make the new partition, and type as partition id by pressing enter, unless it is necessary to provide it a name.....provide partition permission flags by pressing enter key. Now provide partition size and there r blocks and cylinder options also..... here u provide some answers as yes when it asks ! now press q to quit of format and create a file system as: newfs -v /dev/dsk/xxxx (yes to create) xxxx is an eg. u put the no what it will ask now mount ur newly created partition/filesystem mkdir newmount (or provide whatevet name) mount /dev/dsk/xxxx/newmount May be there r some typing mistake so take care urself. The excellent guide from ORacle CAUTION: Again requesting u, please take backups of ur solaris system. If there will any mishap during partition, then u can restore the same.
