Is there an application that limits where users can store files? I'd like to ensure that users save only to our shared cloud storage rather than to the local drive or My Documents. Is there anything like this?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

In Windows Server Platforms, setting Group Policy Objects / Folder Redirections will allow you to limit / force users to save data in a specified location..

That's it! You need to configure folder redirection, but this only only ensures that for example their "My Documents" folder is in a specific (central) location. That, combined with DFS for load balancing and redundancy is a must. Depending on your demand, you might also need to prevent users from saving files in any local folder. For this you will need to turn on GPO loop-back processing and adjust local drives/folders ACL/permissions.

When doing this, how does it affect other functions such as applications that create temp files, or outlook's OST, NK2, QAT files? I'm really intrigued by this question. Is there a lot of customization needed to pick only certain folders/file types to control or can this be controlled based on a user while leaving apps untouched?
