If the sw is customized i.e. house made or tailoring then it may cause problem. But if u use 3rd party sw just upgrade the version related to the os.

In many cases, software that is not listed as supported under a current OS will run on it…but you won’t be able to receive support for it.

You have a few options, however. With modern OSes, you can install and run programs in “Compatibility Mode”. When you do so, the OS emulates the previous OS version (one you specificy). In many cases, this will fix errors you may experience.

As the previous contributor mentioned, there is, more than likely, a later version of the product as Vista is 3+ years old now.
