Can a Sniffer port with port mirror configured pass data traffic?

Answer Wiki

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

A lot of times a mirrored “destination” port cannot send traffic. It is placed into a “listen-only” mode. The way to get around this is to use a bi-directional network tap between your sniffer and the device you want to capture traffic to/from.

Mirror the port on the switch and plug the sniffer into the mirrored port. Then it will see everything it's original port sees.
