smtp address missing in active directory

Exchange, MSExchangeSA, MSExchangeAL, Active Directory, SMTP, Recipient Update Service, RUS

We have a problem in the exchange server, when creating a new email account, smtp address is not auto populated and user cannot open outlook, although mailbox appears in system manager. No events created to indicate any form or replication problem or application error. After searching technet, MS recommended updating first RUS, then rebuilding RUS, then restarting exchange servers and domain controllers, tried all of that with no success.

I then enabled diagnostic logging for MSExchangeAL (LDAP operations and Address Book synchronization) and enabled MSExchangeSA (Proxy Generation) this was MS recommendation, when the logs were generated by a text search I could not find the name of user I created in the text of the events.

So far that’s MS recommendation, their final resort is to run setup of Exchange again with domainprep, which is something I cannot do right now.

any suggestions .Thanks

Microsoft is right in looking to the Recipient Update Service (RUS) ... sounds like your RUS isn't stamping Exchange attributes correctly on your active directory accounts. Check your application event log on the Exchange server for errors or warnings that seem related to your RUS or DNS or not being able to access a DC. Report those errors back to us.
