When MS launched Windows 7 their selling points was that it was designed to help battery last longer.... however, to turn off sleep mode, click start and in text box, type as power options (i.e. search field) under Control Panel > Power Options. It offers 3 standard plans.... like Balanced (recommended); Power saver and High performance. U can change the settings and do as ur wish by clicking change plan settings.
And I could not understand what is the relation with sleep mode and peer to peer file access !! Simply share these folders with proper rights (remember it is not so easy like XP) and u can access folders.
