Single Instance Storage Groveler question

The machine I am concerned with here is a W2K server with SP4 running RIS. The RIS server is technically functional but I notice that the SIS groveler doesn't seem to be doing much of anything. On a W2K3 server of ours with a basically identical setup there is a huge savings in hard drive space in the 'remoteinstall' folder, but on the W2K server the space usage is just as it would be without SIS. There are no relevant entries in any event logs that would indicate errors with any of RIS's services. Hopefully I am missing something obvious. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Do you know for a fact that the Groveler service is running? There should be entries in the log indicatign the service is being started, if it is. Optional services are often installed in a mode that requires manual startup, or changing the setting in Component Services. Aside from that, do you know that there are actually duplicated files on the server where not much appears to be happening? And, is it “not much” or “nothing at all” that’s happening on that server?

I have verified that the SIS groveler service is up and running, and I know there are duplicated files, if for no other reason than because a W2K3 Server box with the same RIS images on it has a 4GB SIS Common Store, and this W2K Server in question has no .sis files in its SIS Common Store. Therefore also, I believe I can say that the SIS groveler is not functioning at all.
