This is not a facitious question.  I am new to APEX.  I have looked over this stuff for weeks, but I can't find a way to run an SQL statement and populate text boxes.

I have tried the famous "For C1 in (Select..." but, when I put it into any of the areas, the event never sets off.  I've tried all of them.  They might set off at the creation of the screen; but not at the lost focus (onblur) of a text box.

Let me phrase it this way:  I'd like a simple way to run a select statement upon leaving a field (or changing it...etc) and use the returned data to dynamically populate a page of text boxes.  The very simplicity of this request leads me to believe that there has to be a very simple answer.

I would greatly appreciate one...

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

UPDATE: I’ve tried using HTMLdb_get, now, with errors, of course…still no success in such a stupid task. I’ve used Ingres and Access and was able to get results in minutes. Oracle Apex is capable of producing what it wants as far as forms go, but, as far as I can tell, it is more trouble than it is worth.

Does EVERYONE just create the forms the way ApEx tells them to, or is there something simple that I am missing?
