For the last few weeks, my computer will not let me open Word, EXCEL, SAS, or any other similar program file when I am connected to my wireless internet. When I start up my computer, with the wireless enabled, it takes close to ten minutes for my icons to appear. If I disable my wireless prior to shutting down my computer, my computer starts up just fine and fast. It doesn't matter what wireless network I am connected to - home, school, starbucks, etc. I have a serial port connection at work - so, everything runs fine making my IT department not really interested in helping me correct the problem they think doesn't exist. But the problem is driving me crazy!
If I open Word prior to turning on the wireless, it will work fine. Similar to what another person posted, it is difficult to tell what files you will need to open ahead of time. I have been searching for solutions and have come across several people with the same problem - but no real solutions.
I have run every virus, trojan, spyware scan known to man and find nothing! I have Windows XP, and Microsoft 2007. My computer is less than a year old. The problem started around a month ago. I thought it was around the same time I switched to Mozilla Firefox. I have since uninstalled Mozilla, but am still experiencing the problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
