SIL File, field ILQTY make it numeric

How can I make the field ILQTY in the SIL file (for invoices) make numeric, so that I can make a count in summaries? Thank you!

Are you referring to the BPCS file SIL on an AS/400? If so, the field is already packed numeric.

    Thank you very much, I made a mistake, actually I meant the LAANB4 field in the GLA-file from BPCS AS/400. Can I make a field like that numeric? Thank you very much! D

    Assuming you don't intend to change the file itself, I'd suggest something like this:
    Monitor;
     numeric = %dec(alpha: [length]: [decimals]); 
     On-error;     
      Clear numeric;
    EndMon;

    Since the question doesn't seem related to RPG, that might not help much. However, you might review the answer and especially the comments for Query 400 Characters to Digits. Something in there might get you a little closer. Also, please remember to provide something about the product that is being used.
