We have several applications that are currently hosted in Google App Engine for Java and we actually have a requirement that needs to be stored somewhere. Which one is the better option for us: Google Blobstore or Google Cloud Storage? We know both can work so we're trying to decide which one is best for us. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Hi,

A question facing some web developers is whether to use Google Blobstore or Google Cloud Storage in their applications.

Google Cloud Storage has gradually gained almost every feature of Google Blobstore over a period of years. There is now almost no reason to create a new application that uses Blobstore. One possible exception is applications that crop and resize images directly from the file path.

Google now officially recommends using Cloud Storage over Blobstore. The capability to write files from the Blobstore API will be removed in the future, making the use of the Cloud Storage API a necessity for this purpose. If you need to be confident of keeping up with new developments, then Google Cloud Storage will be a better choice for you.

Thanks & Regards
