There is a issue tracking system developed by some other developer (on vacation) and it was working fine until sometime back it seems. The flow was issue is logged --> it goes to SMTP server (located in some other country) -->email notification sent to Lotus Notes email.
Now they installed SSL on the SMTP server and SharePoint is unable to send emails so the email notifications have stopped working.
The server architecture is like this. A separate SharePoint server, a separate app server and a separate database sever. The IIS on the SharePoint server is empty. The IIS on the app server has all the services and default smtp server etc running.
Do I need to enable SSL in SharePoint somewhere? If so where do I need to do this?
Do I need to import the SSL certificate and install it on the app server IIS and change the port?
Please let me know as this is really important for me to resolve this issue. I am a .NET expert, but SharePoint is new to me. Thank you.
