shared folders visibility


Windows Vista, Shared folders, Folder permissions

I am using MS Vista OS. I have a shared folder on my desktop.
I want this folder to be visible to only a few computers on my network. Please tell me how to achieve this.

Hello Skmohdarif
there are several methods to allow this, everything depends on several aspects, anyway here are some hints:

    If you have a firewall installed you can allow only specific IP addresses to see your shares
    If you are without firewall or are using the embedded one, check if the sharing is allowed in the firewall policies
    Once that the computers can see the shared folders you only need to setup security on these shared folders by providing correct group/user grants ant then communicate these to the computers connecting to the shares.
