 Setting up a field to store .png file in Access 2007 Database so that it can be merged with Word document

I have an Access 2007 database that includes a company logo( .png file) field.  I have set up the field as an "attachement" data type and I have also tried OLE data type.  The problem is that when I use the database as part of a merge with a Word document, the logo does not display.  Only the name of the file or a string of characters displays.  How do I get the .png file (logo) to display?
