Q:
server migration in Lotus Notes
Hi All,

We are currently moving our old domino server and bringing new server.

How can I setup lotus same as old server. Please note there has not been any other change accept physical machine.

Does lotus support windows 2008 with Lotus R5 Domino Server ?

If I need to install lotus on new server, which files should I migrate so that it behaves as old environment.

Can anybody also provide me guidance on how to migrate

All what you have to do in this case is :

1- install lotus notes domino server on the new machine .
2- copy every thing from the old Lotus Notes machine to the same location in the new machine , and specially make sure that all the ( .cer) the (.nsf) the (server.id )and (notes.ini) must be moved to the same location (e.g. C:\lotus\domino\data)

* I think Lotus notes 8X and later are the only ones supporting win2008

* all ( .cer) the all (.nsf) the (server.id )and (notes.ini) are the most important ones to be moved .

Hi Abushad,

Thanks for the answer.

When I install domino server on new machine, I want to keep everything same settings as old machine.

How can I get the current configuration of all things of current old environment. Once I install domino server and new machine, I can then put exact same settings to create same environment like old environment.

After that I will copy all files into data directory.

Can you please guide me on this.

As is often the case, people who have worked with Microsoft products can’t believe things in the Lotus/Domino environment can be this easy. :-)

Note that the notes.ini is in the program directory, not in the data directory, on most installs. That’s where it needs to go on the new server.
