Server hangs when adding a network adapter after a P-V
Did a P-V on a windows 2003 SP1 system.  When adding a network card, the OS hangs and the only way to get it back is to reboot the system.

Any idea what is preventing the system from adding the network driver?

Software/Hardware used:

Answer Wiki:
Hi After you did the P2V, did you remove the old hidden devices in Device Manager? If not, try: In CMD, type "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" hit enter Type "devmgmt.msc" hit enter Device Manager will open, click View>Show Hidden devices Now remove all the old physical hardware no longer present on the VM. Leave the RAS Async Adapter if it is still there. Shutdown the VM, add the new NIC while it is off and boot up. PS - Also make sure VMware Tools is installed on the VM.
