Server 2008 R2 DNS and Load testing
How
can I test my DNS server to make sure it is operating properly on a
Windows 2008 R2 server? Can I run a stress or load test from there as well? If not how can I do that?

There are diagnostics which you can run from the DNS MMC snapin. A single VM running DNS server can handle probably tens of thousands of queries. Pick a few random domains and query for them using nslookup. If you get a valid response then you should be fine.
