Hi all,
How can I send validation summery in spool file? I don't want to show logical validation errors on screen, I want that when user presses save button data should get save but with error indication and when user view his spool file there should be a spool file in which all logical errors should be mentioned.
Thanks,

Do you have a spooled file defined in the program?  Do you have an entry validation routine (or routines)?  If the answer to these questions is yes, you have the pieces necessary to achieve your ends.

Thanks for reply Splat, actually I was thinking of making a report type of thing for printing output by looping through all fields (validation). Is that okay or how can I define spool file in my rpgle program? I am new to rpg and as400.

    Thanks

You can use one of the standard print files - QPRINT or QSYSPRT - & create output specifications in the program but I don't recommend it.  You'll be better served by creating your own print file (see the DDS for printer files for details).

As for when you process the validations, that depends on your goals and the structure of your program.  If your program currently validates data after the user has pressed <Enter>, then it would be consistent with the current structure to have your output generated at that point.  If you find this insufficient, you'll need to determine where the best point is to accomplish your goals.
