Message. . . Cannot verify host name information. SMTP job ending. The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol(SMTP) server job could not be started. The SMTP server job is not starting because it cannot find the internet address associated with the host name for this system. The fully qualified host name for this system is AS400.company CHGTCPDMN shows HOST(AS400) DOMAIN(COMPANY) SRCHPTY(*REMOTE) DNS INTADDR(123.XXX.X.X 12.XX.XXX.X 12.XX.XXX.X) My Host table entries has an entry for 123.XXX.X.X The error message says to use opt13 of CFGTCP to display the address of the remote name server. I don't have an option 13. I can ping the IP's though. How can I verify that as400.company is known to the remote name server?

Answer Wiki:
A couple things to check. From CFGTCP use option 12 to check the fully qualified domain name. This is the host name plus the domain name with a dot connecting them. Also check the Seach priority. This should be *LOCAL. Now use option 10 to check the host table. You need an entry here that matches the full domain name. NOTE: You can have multiple names associated with the same IP address. You should then be able to ping using the name as well as the address.
