Mahmood needs your help. In his shop they're running V5R3. They are monitoring QSYSOPR Messages and any *INQ message sends e-mailed to them. They want to monitor all (C, D, I & R) *INQ messages from Qsysopr to go to IFS folder, which is mounted NFS so they can monitor those messages on HP OpenView. He asks: "Is there a way to send *INQ messages from QSYSOPR to any IFS folder or even to a physical file or create a spool file so I can send them to an IFS folder. We can send e-mail using SNDDST command, but we don't know how to send those messages to an IFS folder." -- Michelle Davidson, editor, Search400.com

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

To copy a spool to a file, you can use CPYFRMSPLF.
To copy a file to an IFS directory, you can use CPYTOSTMF or CPYTOIMPF

To monitor qsysopr, you can use a tool such as http://jplamontre.free.fr/AS400/SurveillerQsysopr.htm

from this CLP (that currently resends messages) you can derive a solution that “sends” the message to a file with something like

dltf qtemp/mess
monmsg cpf0000
EXECUTESQL SQL(‘CREATE TABLE QTEMP/mess AS (
SELECT ‘Oh, what a pretty message’ from qsqptabl) WITH DATA’)
cpytoimpf …mess… …myfolder/amessage…

the IFS folder you send the file can be located on another server if you create it in the QNTC file system (if you need details, feed back).

you can find executesql at http://jplamontre.free.fr/jpltools.htm
