Security Auditing for USB Devices

Security, Windows Server 2003, USB port security, Security auditing

I am trying to set up auditing for when USB devices are plugged in. I do not wish to disable it, but simply to log a message to the security logs when someone plugs in a USB device.

There may be a way to log this and generate an alert in Windows but that route would likely be more trouble than it's worth - esp for lots of devices. Your best bet is likely to be one of the endpoint security solutions from Utimaco, DeviceLock, Lumension and the like.
