 Securing a virtualized network
What's new out there in securing a virtual network? I've done some research and found ALTOR but they've been purchased by Juniper so their product may soon be intergrated with their routers and switches. I'm looking for a defense in depth solution to my question.

Answer Wiki:
There r generally three types of virtualization, Full virtualization, Paravirtualization, & Operating system-level virtualization. To secure virtual network.... consider the following steps ! 1. Protocols and procedures: The fist step in any type of network is to lay out the protocols and procedures that must be followed. Inside of a virtual environment this must also be done. 2. Firewalls: When there multiple virtual machines environments on a single hardware system, there isn’t a good way to monitor the transactions between the different virtual machines. Install a good software firewall one each of the virtual machine environment. U can use some popular firewalls like Comodo, Zone Alarm.... 3. Anti-virus: Although u have Anti-virus SW on host machine this will not cover the virtual machine environments. have Anti-virus setup on the host machine this will not cover the virtual machine environments. So, there is need to protect each virtual machine with some kind of good anti-virus software. 4. Physically Securing: Virtual computers are no longer tied to a particular hardware system. This allows it to be removed or copied very easily. So, there should be must some type of security to check physically. Hope it helps u !
