I work for a company that operates under SEC jurisdiction (financial services).  We have been told that we can no longer use password protected / encrypted files for "discovery" reasons with the SEC.  Is this correct? I email employee compensation and health data all the time as part of my job, and these are not things that can just be laid out in an email.  Any ideas?

We have been told...   First, you were told by whom? Second, what was cited as the authority? I.e., is there a regulation or law that we can review?   There have been "discovery"-related changes recently, but I'm not aware of anything that specifically applies as you say you were told. I'd be very interested in any authoritative source.   Tom
