I have a database that has scheduled agents. The database is controlled with a template. I want the scheduled agent to be in the template, but if it is, then it also runs in the template, which I want to prevent. Who has worked on this problem and found a solution to preventing scheduled agents from running in templates, but still allowing them to run in the actual database?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I found it. Turns out there is a database setting that is not just for templates. To tell any database that its agents should not run, check the “Disable background agents for this database.” It’s on the first tab of the Database Properties tab. It’s been staring at me for 12 years and I never noticed it.

JellyBean: Thanks for the tip. Yes, I know I could add code to agents and stop them from running if the file name ends in .ntf. This would require a massive effort with all the agents we have in our environment. I looked in admin help and in the server configuration document and could not find any reference to preventing .ntf files from running sheduled agents. If you happen to find a reference, please let me know.
