Scan result threat says my tablet is running in insecure privilege mode. Suggests using only genuine firmware. No idea what that means...can it be corrected, and if so, how? Thank you.

It sounds like your device has been rooted. What "scan" are you talking about? Local anti-malware scan? Network vulnerability scan? Assuming the device has been rooted, practically anything can be done by any user or any app of the device, hence such a warning.

In general, there is no need for anti-virus for android based tab/mobile phones. As Android is developed on Linux based, it has a good protection mechanism to fight/scan viruses. However, you are be careful about net banking/fund transfer/OTP/password for mails etc. You can uninstall the anti virus (if any) and see if the message shows again.

What type of tablet is it? As for firmware, that's kind of like the OS code for the device. Newer flat screen televisions, tables and a lot of internet connected devices have firm ware in order to connect and exchange data on the internet.
