Q:
SBS 2003 replacing port hub issue
I recently replaced an 8 port hub with a 24 port hub on my sbs 2003
network. This connected fine to the server LAN but with no connectivity
to the internet - all other workstations showed "Limited or no
connectivity" - any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Software/Hardware used:
SBS 2003, LAN

Hubs by default are half-duplex devices (can't send/receive at the same time). Are you sure the previous device was a HUB? It is possible that it was a switch and the internet router LAN (local) port is hard set to full duplex and may also have the speed hard set (this is the right way of configuring a router to LAN connection). So, now with a new hub (if you are correct) the duplex/speed settings do not match so clients cannot connect to the router because the layer 1 settings are not correct.

Many thanks for your answer - I will definitely look at this. I am so sorry, but I inadvertantly placed another post about this, not realizing that you had already replied.
