SAP Workflow WorkItem Reservation

Is it possible to set up a workflow to react to a particular work item being reserved? In particular, we have an approval task where the document is routed to a position that is comprised of a group of users. Our users have a habit of inadvertently reserving the object and then not completing it. I have custom "logging" logic that gives us a quick overview of the current status of these routing workflows, but I am currently only showing the name of the group. If someone has already reserved the work item, then I would really like to show the actual agent id. I have it as soon as the workitem is complete... but if they are keeping it in a reserved state for several days then I don't really know who to harass to get it done. Any ideas?

Hello,

As for the first question, you can set up the Latest End of the work item to whatever you like (say 1 day). Then, set the Action to Modeled. Now, that work item will have an output path called “Missed deadline.” In this path you can add another work item that performs whatever task you want it to.

As for the report that shows the actual agent only after the task is completed, you can still view who is currently “reserving” the task as follows:
– Go to transaction SWIA or SWI1
– Type the work item ID
– Click run (F8)
– Double click the work item
– Go to menu option: Goto-> Agents -> Selected Agents
– The agent that has the work item reserved currently is displayed with an icon in front of his/her name

Alternatively, you can select all records in table SWWUSERWI for that work item ID and find the record with field (NO_SEL = ‘ ‘).

Hope this helps,

Abdullah
