 SAP PLM future prospects

Hi folks, I need one advice from all the bloggers here. I am into SAP ABAP from last 3.5 years, but I do not have any insight of SAP’s PLM module. Now I got an offer to join a PLM project, but I am hesitating coz I do not know what my future would be, if I get into SAP PLM. So request your inputs whether I should grab the opportunity or let it go… All inputs are appreciated ! Thank you. Regards, Sud

Product Life Cycle Management is on demand that requires extensive product development background. But SAP ABAP deals with programming language, like java and parts of its NetWeaver that syntax like Cobol. In SAP PLM, there is extensive knowledge of products is required and also minimum experience is 2 or more. If u have the same capabilities (and I hope u have these) u may go for that. I believe that on technical side there should not be any problem, coz I am into SAP ABAP programming for quite a long time.

Only thing I am concerned about is, if after working in SAP PLM project for about a year or so, will other companies consider my profile? I mean, how would be my future after working in SAP PLM?

It is not possible to say anything while everybody stands on the current market. After 1 or 2 yrs, if u will gather solid knowledge on the same, u will get more response from many company. Earlier, I mentioned that, this is basically for knowledge of product management. But more and more experience require for this particular field. Because any company, they should have deal at least a product, and without product either manufacturer or trader no company exists. I hope u will join the project and wish for ur prosperous future. One thing u always remember, “We never see tomorrow, So what will be happened in future, we don’t know”.
