Hi
Absence quota is the number of hours or days that an employee can avail of as absence. This quota has a quota type. For example, Rec Leave(RL) or Vacation quota, this corresponds to absence type. When an empl applies for absence of a type for a certain period, this absence can be checked against one or more quota types's entitlment based on the config. If the empl does not have enough quota, it can also be debited against future quota accrual before the absence or leave starts. If the empl does not have enough quota, the absence creation is not accepted and a message will result.
It can also be configured that the absence is not checked against a quota.
The absence quota is first accrued and then transferred to entitlement. For example, the empl may accrue RL weekly or fortnightly. The accrual may be transferred to entl immediately or once a year or whatever as per the business rules. The entl can also have a max val. The quoyta accrual/transfer to entl happens in the Time mgt function QUOTA which is used in the Time eval schema. It is also possible just to generate quota using a suitable schema.
The absence can be debited against quota entl based on rules. For example, all week days or only working days may be debited. Also certain Paid Holiday types may not be counted.
You can learn all this as part of Time Management.
Hope this helps. JG
