Hi, I'm an IT Professional with 12 years experience in IT Management. We are into Retailing business. I'm technically very sound and can grasp things easily. I'm planning to move into SAP and would like to get info on a few things. 1. Considering my Retail industry experience, which module / course in SAP will suit me. 2. Having worked for so long in this industry, I'm very familiar about various processes in running a retail business. How can I make use of this experience and get started in SAP? 3. Are there any resources on the internet that can help in getting started with SAP (for beginners) to give me a better understanding of the field I'm heading to. Thanks, Mazhar

Hi,I’m completely agree with jayaram. My only doubt or confusion is that one must has to do SD or MM before going for IS Retail? How about a combination of CRM+IS Retail? As per your experience ISR would be best but anything u add to this would be an extra advantage. All the best.
Dear all:
I see a lot of good answers. One thing I want to add is that depending on the architecture of SAP Implementation, you need to focus on different modules.
For instance, if a company implements Retail/Order processing within ERP (ECC), then SD module will be the one to study. However, there is a totally separate component, CRM in SAP. CRM is a solely separate component to focus on Order processing which is interfaced to ERP via BDOC.
Likewise, there is another SAP component called SCM/APO which focuses on Planning.
Yet, the core concept should be easily applicable across the different components in SAP (ECC, SCM, CRM, etc). Sales Order document is the basic to process customer order. And this document will impact the level of Inventory of some Plant/Warehouse, also. I tried to write some basic concept about SAP in an article. Please see my profile for more info.
Thanks, and I strongly agree that SAP will be a great ERP package to learn and study for IT professional with good experience.
