 SAP APO and BW
SAP APO, SAP BW/BI
Hi Experts,
I am a IT project manager with little experience in SAP. I would like to know the dependecy between SAP APO and SAP BW modules. Is it mandatory to have SAP BW system to implement a new SAP APO? As SAP APO has already in-built with BW, why a separate SAP BW system.

Not required, but likely the preferred architecture is to have the intermediate BW system that functions as a data repository for the APO-BW system. The intermediate system does provide some real advantages, in that it is easier to migrate historical data from the BW to APO-BW system as the host and target are more similar. From R/3 you would have to extract that data into a flat file and go from there.
