 Sage/MIP Server Printing Problems
hi! i have a problem of course. my financial department uses Sage Software/MIP from our windows 2003 server. suddenly, all the accountants are not able to print any checks from MIP. or print anything from MIP for that matter. although the printers will print from MS Word or do a print test page. I've tried looking as the administrator to the accounts user privelages in MIP, but there is not problem there. and I also switched the properties for the accountant/users on the server to Full Control. still nothing. they are unable to print from MIP. anybody have a solution. please? thanks alot buddies. -thecheyguy

Answer Wiki:
I do not have any personnel experience with that particular program, but I have a lot of experience with other accounting programs, one of the security features in High end AP software is checks have to be printed locally, most programs do allow this to be turned off by an administrator.

does it use windows printing or does it have its own engine? second has there been any updates to the program, or windows updates. third if you install it on a new computer with all the updates does it work? and lastly check and see if you can change fonts or set certain fonts in the program. you didnt say if there was a error message?

A client of mine runs that software for their accounting. I don’t really have anything to do with it, their IT guy handles that. However, I do know that it is, ummm, shall we say sensitive to changes. No update is ever applied without checking with MIP support first to ensure that there are no adverse effects from a MS update. If they give the OK, the update gets done, and if something goes awry, we hope the initial call is on record as them telling us it ws OK to go with the update.

Pretty much, that is the long way of saying what changed between the last time the print run was done and this time when it failed.

For a problem with a program like this, I’d not even bother with a list or a site such as this. I’d just call Sage/MIP and get it fixed ASAP.
