Safety and reliability of modular APC equipement

Data center power supplies, Data center infrastructure, data center security

We are currently maxed out at our old data center facility and have made the decision to build a new data center.

The consulting company we're using has suggested we build out our UPS capability using APC modular UPS units, rather than older style UPS devices. This suggestion was primarily made because of our desire to spread the cost of the new data center across multiple years if possible. However, we're also concerned about the ongoing disruption within the data center of building out the modular power within the data center space.

APC competitors and a few other Engineers have raised concerns to me about the APC modular UPS being "less reliable" due to the larger number of components and also expressed concerns in general about the UPS being on the floor with the IT equipment.

Should we be worried about safety and reliability with the modular APC equipment if we ensure it in installed and maintained properly?
