    Are you sure that there was a row updated? The reads are needed to find the rows that are to be updated.

    as stated in the question, the last 3 values in the listed profile are writes, rowcoutn, reads values writes = 0, rowcaount = 1, reads = 2

    Yes, the reads are normal indicating that the SQL Server looked for rows to change. Are you sure that there were rows which were successfully updated, or are you assuming that SQL Profilers rowcount is correct?
