I need to access a web app from the i-series. Any ideas on the best way to do this?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I have created a RPGLE and CL program that uses the “STRWEBCMD”. Below is a partial list:
RPGLE:
EVAL WEBPARM = ‘START http://wwwapps.ups.com+
/WebTracking/processInputRequest?+
TypeOfInquiryNumber=T”&”+
InquiryNumber1=’ + %trim(upstrack)
CALL ‘SCCWEB’
or
EVAL WEBPARM = ‘START C:\Program” “Files\+
Microsoft” “Office\OFFICE11\Outlook.exe
/c ipm.note /m ‘ + %trim(EMAILADR)
CALL ‘SCCWEB’

WEBPARM is:
D CMDPARM DS
D OPTIONSEL OVERLAY(CMDPARM:*NEXT)
D WEBPARM 122A OVERLAY(CMDPARM:*NEXT)

CL:
STRPCCMD PCCMD(&WEBCMD) PAUSE(*NO)
or
STRWEBCMD +
FILE(‘http://www.dragosupply.com/drago/inde+
x.jsp’)
The program I have lets users enter a UPS tracking number from the AS400 and check the web. It also lets the user call outlook and send email. Plus it does a few other things. If you have any questions about my coding let me know.

Hmm.. where is the strwebcmd coming from? Third party? Its not part of IBM…Also what I had here before it was deleted would have worked with a webservice also. Could you send me the code so I can play with it. rkoontz@ceioh.com

Thanks
Ron

    Go Scott Klemets website and get a copy of the HTTPAPI utility he's released as open source. I believe there's everything you want for UPS tracking in there as an example. Well supported, function rich - why write your own and have to maintain it... - no affiliation. . .. just a bystander. .

    If you just need somethng down and dirty, you could try this: CHGVAR VAR(&PATH) + VALUE('https://www.yahoo.com') STRPCCMD PCCMD('C:PROGRA~1intern~1Iexplore.EXE ' + *CAT &PATH) PAUSE(*NO)
